Clemson Easter Bunny Run 5K

After getting back from our cruise on Thursday, I left for my sister's house in Greenville, SC on Friday. It had been about two weeks since I had been able to get in a run and I was past ready. I looked for a local race once I got there and found a 5K in Clemson which was close. It was a pretty chilly morning but the course was beautiful. It started at the SC Botanical Gardens and went along the edge of Clemson University back to the Botanical Gardens. The first mile was uphill and combined with the lack of running was pretty slow. Somewhere around 1.5 miles I found my rhythm and hit a nice pace for the rest of the race. I finished in 28:07 which earned me second place for my age group.

Spring Break Float

During spring break, we took a cruise as our family vacation. We decided to leave out of Tampa and took a 5 day Carnival cruise that stopped in the Grand Caymans and Cozumel. We headed to Tampa on Saturday morning and had an uneventful trip down to the port. We quickly boarded the ship and went directly to our cabin. We had an outside cabin with a window. As soon as we got to our room, we changed into our swimsuits and headed to the pool and water slides. The kids had a blast. It didn't seem like it was long before we were pulling out of Tampa and heading out to sea.

The next day we were at sea. The plan was to spend most of the day at the pool and water slides again. It was so windy that Collin was almost being blown over and he got scared. That was the end of the day outside for Collin and Chris. I stayed by the pool so Derick and Isabel could keeping playing.

The third day we woke up in the Grand Caymans. I let Isabel pick our excursion for the day. She decided on the Turtle Farm. We loaded up on a bus once we were water-taxied over to shore. After a brief guided tour of the turtle farm, Isabel and I grabbed some snorkeling equipment and snorkeled in a lagoon that had turtles and fish in it. Derick wasn't as sure about the snorkeling. He decided he felt more comfortable on shore. We picked up a few souvenirs on the way out and we loaded back into our bus and headed back to the ship.

The fourth day we woke up in Cozumel. Since Isabel got to pick an excursion, I let Derick pick the excursion for Cozumel. He chose The Amazing Cozumel Race. It was mirrored the concept of the reality show the Amazing Race. We solved clues to find more clues and make our way around Cozumel. As a part of the excursion Isabel and Derick got henna tattoos which were clues and I got to snorkel at a shipwreck site. The final stop was a local restaurant where we were able to refuel for our trip back to the ship.

Our final day was another day at sea and another day spent at the water slides and the pool. We also had to spend part of the day packing.

Overall it was a great trip. We had fantastic weather the entire trip. No sunburns. Fun was had by all. We couldn't ask for more for a family vacation.
