Collin Finally Arrived!!!

On June 26th, Chris and I were blessed with the healthy arrival of our son Collin. We arrived at the hospital around 6AM to get checked in. When we arrived we were surprised to find that 6 babies had been born the night before and room availability was becoming an issue. After a short wait, a nurse came and got us and took us back to a room. There were 4 C-sections scheduled for that morning and I was number 3 on the list so we knew we had a little bit of a wait. Both our parents show up around 7:30 which was about the time they started my IV. Finally around 11AM they came to get me. They had Chris wait at the nurses station until they had me prepped and ready to go. Finally I heard them send a nurse to get him and when he came into the room he said the doctor "was already elbows deep" waiting to pull Collin out. Everyone, including the doctor, was surprised to find the Collin was breach so it took a little extra care getting him out. At 11:20AM, Collin's arrival was announced. He weighed 7lbs 3.4 oz and was 20 inches long.

Derick and Isabel were very excited about meeting Collin. Derick got a little upset when he saw his mommy hooked up to the IVs but Chris made that all better by taking him and Isabel down to the nursery to get Collin. Derick has been such a sweet big brother. He has been very gentle when holding Collin. And while Isabel is excited about out new addition, she didn't slow down much to pay him much attention. This summer with them all at home should be rather interesting.

Luckily, Saturday they let us go home...and now the real adventure begins.

News Of The Day

I just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow is D-Day (Delivery Day). Chris and I have to be at the hospital by 6am tomorrow and then some time after 9am we will be welcoming Collin into the world. I'll post pictures once I get home!

2nd Grade Awards Day 2008

Derick finished up 2nd grade this past May and they also held an awards day. It was almost like a mini-graduation ceremony since they will be moving from the primary school to the elementary school next school year. Derick was honored with finishing all the elements of the Fast ForWord computer based program. He also received an award from his teacher, Mrs. Comeau, for being the most improved reader in his class. We are very proud of the progress he has made with regards to reading comprehension. We were also excited to learn that Derick scored extremely well on the basic skills test that was given to the second graders in April. He got a perfect score on the math portion and only missed 6 other questions on the entire exam.

Kindergarten Awards Day 2008

At the end of the school year, Isabel's class invited the parents to Kindergarten Awards Day. They provided snacks for the parents, sang some songs, presented a slide show that had pictures of the class during the school year and gave each student an award. Isabel was awarded "Most Friendly".
